Welcome to Bicycling In Our World

I guess you might say that this is just another cyclist with his own web site so he can write about his hokey rides. Well, you’d be right in a
sense but it isn’t quite as simplistic as that. Like so many things in life this really just came about totally by accident.

Although I write about our hokey rides it’s not so much the what as it is the where. Once I started using cycling specific online mapping software I started adding new roads to our rides. After a few consecutive rides, each of which contained at least one new road that we’d never ridden on before, I called this the Summer of Discovery.

Howard liked that name so I began blogging on bikejournal.com for the first three years or so to chronicle our journeys. What surprised us were
not so much the new roads we had discovered but the amazing sights and scenery that were right here in our own backyard.

Anyway, I outgrew bikejournal.com and decided to go it alone so that I could do a few more things that weren’t so restrictive. At first I was
going to go with bicyclinginmyworld.com but realized that this is not so much about me as it’s about all of us really. Thus, bicyclinginourworld.com was born
with the idea to promote the area in which we live and ride.

As this site has grown over the past year it seems that it has taken on a more motivational tone. That really happened by accident or rather life on the bike has brought about this change giving this here web site a life of it's own. I try to focus on what can be achieved rather than what can't. It really amazes me when I look back on my cycling life and see where it has taken me so if I can do this then there should be no doubt that you can accomplish things that you might think are impossible. Challenge yourself and see what little miracles can arise from your dreams and desires.

Thank you for visiting with us here and I hope we see you out on the road someday. Remember, when riding your bike, whether on the road or off,
be sure to look around you and notice what others or yourself might have missed. That’s what you call bicycling in our world.
